Douglas Parks
Chief Executive Officer

Douglas Parks is the Chief Executive Officer of DowAksa, a role he assumed in November 2015. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President. Mr. Parks joined DowAksa from Dow Chemical, where he had worked since 2010 as the Global Business Director for Lightweight Materials and Government Markets, with responsibility for developing Dow’s global strategy in lightweight materials, and a specific focus on industrial applications, including wind, transportation and defense. Mr. Parks has more than 25 years of experience in various business leadership, market development and government development roles. In his role as Senior Vice President, Business Development and Attraction for the State of Michigan, Mr. Parks led the State’s economic growth efforts in that sector, with a specific focus on advanced energy storage, wind, solar, bio-energy and the carbon fiber exploratory program. Prior to that role, Mr. Parks led the team responsible for developing Michigan’s strategy around new market diversification. He graduated from Lake Superior State University and is a retired U.S. Army Intelligence Officer.

Betül Sadıkoğlu

Deputy CEO 

Betül Sadıkoğlu is Deputy CEO at DowAksa. Ms. Sadıkoğlu started her career as Budget and Finance Specialist at Aksa Acrylic Fiber in 1995. Two years later, she was appointed Budget and Finance Manager, and in 2003 she became Finance Director. In July 2012, she joined DowAksa as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Sadıkoğlu was appointed to her current position in November 2015. She graduated from ODTÜ Industrial Engineering and obtained her Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering at Boğaziçi University.

Niels Mesotten
Chief Financial Officer

Niels Mesotten is Chief Financial Officer for DowAksa. Prior to joining DowAksa, he held several positions within Dow Chemical. In 2000, he joined Dow Purchasing in The Netherlands. He moved to Treasury as a Customer Financial Service (CFS) analyst in 2003, relocating to Belgium. In 2006, Mr. Mesotten was promoted to CFS Manager for Nordic/UK/Benelux. The next year, after moving to Switzerland, his responsibilities grew to include France. He moved to the Financial Risk Management in 2008, with responsibilities in foreign exchange and interest rate risk management. In 2011, he took on the role of Mergers & Acquisitions Associate Director for Dow EMEA, where he led several M&A transactions. In 2012, he served as Assistant Treasurer at Sadara, a Dow joint venture, where he was instrumental in setting up risk management, insurance and credit and led treasury activities as well. He then served as Dow’s Global Finance Director, Joint Ventures, before being appointed to his current position with DowAksa. He holds a master’s degree in Engineering in Chemistry & Biochemistry from the University of Leuven in Belgium, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Vlerick Leuven Management School, also in Belgium. He also served on the Board of Directors of Sadara Basic Services Company.

Ute Spring
Chief Technology Officer

Ute Spring is Chief Technology Officer for DowAksa, a role she has held since July 1 2015. Prior to that, she worked for The Dow Chemical Company, most recently in the role of Associate R&D Director for Dow Europe GmbH in Horgen (Switzerland). In that position, she led Dow Lightweight Composites R&D globally for key strategic markets, followed by strategic and external relationship management for Lightweight Composites in Europe. During that time, Ms. Spring started to represent DowAksa on the Advisory Board of the Open Hybrid Lab Factory, the largest German Public-Private Partnership, chaired by Volkswagen AG. Ms. Spring started her professional career as Global Application Specialist for Internal Fluid Flow Systems at Amstral Engineering GmbH in 1996. She joined Dow Olefinverbund GmbH in 2003 as Process Engineering Specialist, a role she held until 2007, when she was promoted to Senior R&D Leader for Automotive R&D. In 2011, she was appointed as Associate R&D Director for Composites R&D. Ms. Spring holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Chemical Technological Institute Moscow (Russia) and a Master of Science degree with a specialization in numerical fluid dynamics from Carl Schorlemmer Technical University.
