DowAksa Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers Receive NSF 61 Certification for Drinking Water System Components

[Tucson, AZ] – Twelve DowAksa carbon fiber reinforced polymer products received NSF/ANSI Standard 61 certification, signifying they can be used safely in applications that come in contact with potable water or with products that support the production of potable water. The certification adds another level of assurance for customers looking to use the products for applications such as repairing leaking pipes or strengthening corroded storage tanks.

The certification testing was completed August 3, 2015, by Truesdail Laboratories, Inc., an ANSI-accredited certification organization, and covers the following products:

NSF/ANSI Standard 61 is a set of standards developed by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), a global independent public health and environmental organization, and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which oversees the creation of and conformity to U.S. standards to protect public health and environmental safety. The NSF 61 standard evaluates the amount of contaminants that leach from the products into drinking water.
