DowAksa’s IPEK Project Wins “Technology Development Award”

The IPEK Project, an advanced carbon fiber-based technology development collaboration supported by the Undersecretariat of Defense Industries (SSM) and jointly conducted by DowAksa and Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI), was awarded the Technology Development Award by the Turkey Defense and Aviation Manufacturers Association (SaSaD).

Chairman of the DowAksa Board Mehmet Ali Berkman, who expressed his great pride in receiving this award, said:

“Turkish companies are developing, producing and exporting more advanced technology products than ever before. We produce prepreg materials for both military and civil aviation applications in Yalova under the IPEK Project, which we have carried out together with TAI and that is funded by Undersecretariat for Defense Industries. We also carry out R&D work within the scope of the project. Today’s award for our project by SASAD shows that we were on the right track.”

Carbon fiber prepregs are highly important to the global “dual-use” aviation industry, and the product advancements offered by the IPEK Project will provide the benefits of new technology to advance Turkish aerospace and defense objectives. The material will be manufactured to world-class aviation standards and is initially intended to be used in domestic unmanned vehicles and trainer aircraft such as TF-X, HÜRKUŞ and ANKA.
